Social Justice Research
I took a Criminal Justice course during the spring term of 2023, where we learned about the structure of the criminal's rights as well how one can considered a scenario as a crime. One of the heartbreaking things I can to find out was how the police and corrections system treat prisoners due to their crimes or even race. It was inhumane and when comparing the prison system in the US and in Norway, where the prisoners are put through the rehabilitation process while they stay in the prison cells. It was realized that prisoners with non lethal crimes like illegal drug dealing was showing improvement as a citizen and eventually was able to go back into society as a new man rather than reverting back to his old criminal ways. I wrote a research paper in the APA format which was then graded to be well. It was only an observational paper where I also developed formats of easing the incarceration system in the US if we tried different methods from other countries. I want to elaborate on that idea and how exactly I can input that idea to be published.

Examples of how the data can be visualized:
What design(s)are influencing your work?
I believe the designs that will be influencing my work is from The Marshall Project
is a nonprofit news organization that seeks to create and sustain a sense of national urgency about inequities within the U.S. criminal justice system. The Marshall Project has been described as an advocacy group by some, and works to impact the system through journalism.
I want to utilize a Modern, Simple straightforward text in order to get across my point with the public.
However, I would love to add a standout piece with a certain image in order to have the viewer to remember this design, a very strong and in-depth image to have that as the focus and have the text to solely be a supporting detail.
I would possibly use a diagonal grid or circular to show emphasis.
What fonts are you considering?
I definitely want to incorporate a military sense inside of this design due to the fact that it has to deal with police maltreatments and the prisoner's unfortunate fate within prison or correctional facilities.
The textured letters would add a great sense of minor design and it would be used as a reference for this topic of Prisoner Maltreatment for those innocent of crimes they did not commit.
What colors are you considering?
I'm considering using very bold and strong colors. I would love to stick to a monochrome color palette as it would give it a interesting, intriguing feel within the design
I would love to invert the colors if necessary to use a division. I would also want to stick dark colors for my design overall.

Is this piece for a specialized audience and how would that impact your design?
This piece is to represent to all families who have their family members who are in prison, to inform the reality of how prison and to explain to a younger audience of how unjust the correction system really is.
What kind of grid are you considering?
I'm considering showcasing a 3x3 grid horizontally but I'm not closing myself to only that format. I also want to experiment with vertical grids and definitely incorporate a diagonal grid that can show the images in a creative way.
