Call to Action Poster Finals - 3/25

Image
Call to Action Poster Finals  Reflection:  This poster was heavily influenced with the idea of having the eye have more depth within the iris to indicate that this social problem is a problem to humanity. I wanted to draw attention towards this poster with having the colors contrast with each other. It was difficult to make the eye overall on Illustrator and I personally feel that I could also recreated the prison cell with the brush and shapes to keep that “drawing like” theme. When I viewed the video of “How Posters Work”, I genuinely wanted to try the circle method where it would center all the attention to that circle and incorporated the whole eye situation as well. I do find that it was difficult to add a texture in Illustrator which indicated to me that I should review my tools and techniques in that program. The colors was difficult to choose since I did not want to indicate one single race or skin color. I went with a warm tan because I wanted to reference my ow...

6-5, 7-1, 7-2 Social Justice Spreads Reflection

Image
Reflection :  This was a tough social justice topic to cover as I had to uncover what it felt to be in a solitary confinement prisoner's shoes as I looked for data. At first, I wanted to focus on the topic as a whole but after a while, I wanted to focus on minors like myself to make the project a lot more meaningful. I found myself struggling to design. I no longer remembered the basics of design and found myself double guessing myself how to achieve the looks I was going for. This was by far the project I found interest in but did not know how to start to design or even where to base my theme from. I felt the process was messy. And putting together these spreads was confusing because I did not have text information to use as a reference to where to place my images. I did for sure like the way I improvised along the way. I liked the process of breaking it down by parts such as doing the "Data Visualization" as one part of the pages, and another being doing collages sepa...

Call to Action Poster Roughs - 3/21

Image
Call to Action Poster Roughs - 3/21 I decided to use more in depth technique with this sketch, utilizing the eye to be the center. I wanted to play with the idea of "eyes are the windows to the soul" and wanted to portray how long lasting the after effects of solitary confinement is. I decided to make the eye look as realistic as possible and showcase some human feel in the poster. I did not want to use a realistic photo of a human eye but I plan on recreating it in Illustrator instead. This made be think of ways to place the text around the eye or possibly inside of the eye but I felt the words should stand out more than the eye so I will see what fonts/phrases I play with in Illustrator.  I wanted to establish a twist with the Earth being something like a centerpiece of the poster. I wanted to add prison details such as making a false ripped corner with barbed wire and adding cement block walls to indicate a prison. I thought about it at first to do this Earth situation but...

7-1 Social Justice Poster Research

Image
Reflection :  I found this poster to be most intriguing because it combines the vibrant colors and contrasting colors of yellow and red. Lupton adds this poster to indicate that humans are bound to make eye contact no matter what the issue is, that it’s one way of grasping the viewers attention. I feel I would like to play with human features that can push forward a sense of familiarity and make a person think twice of what they’re looking at. This poster also sparked the idea of combining the thought of eyes, and show depth into more than just eyes. Human body language says a lot for some, more than what words can explain.  Reflection:  I found this poster so creative with the fact they used the sphere of Earth to resemble a human head that you would mentally think that it’s the side of a human head with a ear listening where the phone is. It was creative to share the message of interconnectedness that the phone can bring worldwide. I would relate this to my own p...

Write a 300 word reflection answering the questions below: What is the goal of data visualization? Pick one exhibit and describe how it uses imagery to make its point? How can you use your skills in graphic design to visualize your data? How will you improve/revise your initial data visualization rough?

Data Visualization - 12/12/2023

Data Visualization  Reflection:   I personally found myself having a hard time attempting to find a free global map. It's the first time that I lay out data and there's a lot of audience trying to reach to and make sure the data is straightforward and overall, easy to understand. I found myself struggling to find a color scheme. I chose bold and pink/purple hue colors to show a difference within the map and the data. I also found that I could've added a more formal tone with a more neutral color way in order to deliver that serious tone but I decided to experiment with color and see how I could expand my design comfort. This is by far, my worst work and there's a lot that could be improved and I do not feel very confident in laying out data. I can showcase lots of different things, and the most difficult thing to show is human social issues and and I feel it's not my biggest strength and this gave me insight that I should work on my color schemes matching the them...
