Data Visualization at the Designing Peace Exhibition - 2/8/2024
Write a 300 word reflection answering the questions below:
What is the goal of data visualization?
Pick one exhibit and describe how it uses imagery to make its point?
How can you use your skills in graphic design to visualize your data?
How will you improve/revise your initial data visualization rough?
Developing bold outliers and trends and making data easy to interpret are the two main objectives of data visualization. The Peace Pavilion, an installation featuring a chronicle of urban participation, piqued my interest. The group offers a visually appealing architectural and site plan for the nation's capital that simplifies the museum and represents a new, open, democratic environment. The construction, which consists of a series of divided forms, fits the irregular site quite well and is less imposing than typical public buildings. Within the crowded urban setting, the nearby park offers residents a place to escape and easily accessible public space, all year round. With its divided layout, the suggested architectural style for India's capital city promotes a sense of harmony and fluidity. The segmented geometries of the proposed architectural design for India's capital city naturally integrate into the urban environment, evoking a sense of flow and harmony. In the middle of all this urban bustle, the open park next to the building serves as a symbol of a democratic respite, offering solitude and places to congregate. With regard to my abilities in graphic design and human communication, I would concentrate on the visual display of data to produce stunning charts or graphs that also effectively communicate insights from this information. To increase readability, I would be selecting the appropriate color schemes, fonts, and designs. To improve my first data visualization, I would start by asking the audience for feedback to identify any flaws that need to be fixed. Decluttering and simplifying complicated images, as well as adding labels or legends that could be confused for an interactive PowerPoint slide feature—like the one derived from this illustration—would help me further enhance the design details. Lastly, I would think about various visualization strategies that may be applied to more effectively and properly convey important messages.
